HALO Elevate
The HALO Elevate series comprises HPLC columns from Advanced Materials Technology (AMT) featuring an organosilane-modified surface. This hybrid material is therefore stable at pH values between 2 and 12. Thanks to this high pH stability, bases can be analysed in their uncharged state, resulting in good peak symmetry. The modified surface is based on AMT’s well-known Fused-Core technology, enabling high flow rates to be achieved in combination with high pH stability. Thanks to the choice of different stationary phases, such as C18, C8 and Phenyl-Hexyl, a wide range of different applications can be run at high pH values.

What are the benefits of the HALO Elevate range?
Due to the organo-silane modified surface, these columns are very stable at high pH values. Amitriptyline was analysed at a pH value of 10. It was found that the retention only shifted by 1% after 500 injections (or 20,000 column volumes).

Changes in selectivity due to pH
Thanks to the wide usable pH range of the HALO Elevate series, the selectivity of acidic, basic and neutral compounds can be controlled via the pH value.
- Low pH: Bases are charged and elute rapidly
- Neutral pH: Bases and acids are charged and exhibit rapid elution
- Basic pH: Bases are unloaded and exhibit late elution

Analysis of Omeprazole
When analysing omeprazole (pka 9.3), related compounds and impurities, the run time can be reduced by more than 84% compared to the original USP method. All 9 component are baseline separated.

Analysis of Tricyclic Antidepressants
Tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs) are basic drugs that can be separated with the HALO Elevate C18 in less than 3 min with excellent peak symmetries.

Conclusion: With the HALO Elevate series, which is based on hybrid technology, basic analytes can be analysed in their uncharged state. This prevents secondary interactions, thereby ensuring high peak symmetry. This column is ideal for laboratories with a high volume of basic applications.
