The HALO Elevate C18 HPLC column 20x2.1mm, 2µm, features an octydecylsilyl phase (also known as ODS, RP-18, C18) on a core-shell material. The particles are additionally modified with an organosilane compound to achieve high pH stability from 2 to 12 at temperatures up to 60°C. The ability to use a high pH allows for targeted modification of the selectivity of acids and bases. Thus, bases elute later at very high pH values and with a better peak shape, since they are uncharged. Another effect is that the improved peak shape also allows for a higher loading capacity of the HPLC column. As a result, the HALO Elevate C18 is ideal for all basic compounds and especially for separations that benefit from a high pH or where impurities must be detected at high loading capacities. Typical applications include, for example, antidepressants, cocaine, or triazoles.
The HALO Elevate series is based on a core-shell material. This means that the particles have a non-porous core and a porous shell. This allows for high efficiency while maintaining low backpressure. As a result, UHPLC performance is possible with a standard HPLC system. A special modification of the silica surface using organosilane compounds results in high pH stability ranging from 2 to 12 at 60°C. This wide pH range can be used to analyze basic compounds in their neutral, uncharged state, leading to better peak shapes and higher loading capacity for basic compounds. The service life can be extended by using appropriate precolumn cartridges.
