Product Description

The Inertsil NH2 HPLC column 120x4.6mm, 5µm, is a silica-based aminopropyl phase. Due to its polar amino group, it can be used in HILIC and normal-phase chromatography and also exhibits ionic interactions with suitable analytes and mobile phases. Inertsil NH2 is particularly suitable for polar compounds, carbohydrates, and classes of compounds that show only low retention or do not separate on C18 phases. Due to these different interactions, alternative selectivities can be observed compared to C18 phases. Typical applications include sugar analysis, water-soluble vitamins, polar metabolites, organic acids, and selected pharmaceutical analytes.

The Inertsil series is based on a high-purity, spherical silica matrix whose pore structure, particle size distribution, and surface are carefully controlled during production. Low metal contamination and careful surface treatment reduce the activity of free silanol groups. This minimizes undesirable secondary interactions—particularly tailing and adsorption with basic or chelating analytes—and promotes stable retention times. This reproducible silica matrix forms the basis for the various Inertsil modifications and ensures reliable selectivities across the series. Appropriate Inertsil pre-column cartridges should be used to protect the analytical packing bed from particles and the sample matrix and to extend column lifespan.
