The InertSustainSwift C8 HPLC column 100x4.6mm, 3.5µm, is based on an octylsilyl phase (also known as RP-8, C8) on high-purity ES silica gel and is used in reverse-phase chromatography. Compared to C18 phases, the C8 modification exhibits lower hydrophobic retention; InertSustainSwift C8 is therefore suitable for methods in which analytes need to elute more quickly. The 200 Å silica with a 6.0% carbon loading offers good pore accessibility for larger molecules and can be used for peptides and oligonucleotides in the range from several kDa to several tens of kDa. Thanks to end-capping, a controlled silica surface, and a pH range of 1–10, InertSustainSwift C8 is suitable for robust RP-HPLC and LC-MS methods. Typical applications include fat-soluble vitamins, low-polarity active ingredients, peptides, oligonucleotides, as well as analyses in the pharmaceutical industry, food analysis, and environmental analysis.
The InertSustain series features a specially modified silica. This allows for precise control of the properties of the silica matrix. In addition, the columns exhibit high pH stability. As with the established Inertsil series, the InertSustain materials also demonstrate very high inertness toward all analytes—a phenomenon also referred to as base deactivation. Furthermore, these materials exhibit very low backpressure while maintaining high efficiencies. The service life can be extended by using appropriate pre-column cartridges.
