The InertSustain Phenylhexyl HPLC column 150x1.5mm, 5µm, consists of a phenyl group bonded to the surface via a hexyl linker. In addition, the surface of the silica support is specially modified, resulting in high pH stability (1–10), inertness, and low backpressure. The phenyl group of InertSustain Phenylhexyl provides dipole-dipole, π-π, and hydrophobic interactions to offer alternative selectivity compared to C18 phases. Furthermore, the hexyl linker provides stronger hydrophobic interactions than other standard phenyl phases. Another advantage is that InertSustain Phenylhexyl can also be used in 100% aqueous mobile phases. This phase can be used in the analysis of, for example, antidepressants, indomethacin (according to Ph. Eur.), or, more generally, aromatic systems.
The InertSustain series features a specially modified silica. This allows for precise control of the properties of the silica matrix. In addition, the columns exhibit high pH stability. As with the established Inertsil series, the InertSustain materials also demonstrate very high inertness toward all analytes—a phenomenon also referred to as base deactivation. Furthermore, these materials exhibit very low backpressure while maintaining high efficiencies. The service life can be extended by using appropriate pre-column cartridges.
