The Inertsil WP300 SIL HPLC column 100x1.0mm, 5µm, is a pure wide-pore silica phase with a pore size of 300 Å. Inertsil WP300 SIL is suitable for normal-phase separations and applications involving larger molecules, where a larger pore structure improves access to the silica surface. Due to the lower surface area of wide-pore silica particles, certain analytes can elute more quickly. Typical applications include large organic molecules, biomolecule-like compounds, natural products, lipids, and normal-phase methods requiring increased pore volume.
The Inertsil series is based on a high-purity, spherical silica matrix whose pore structure, particle size distribution, and surface are carefully controlled during production. Low metal contamination and careful surface treatment reduce the activity of free silanol groups. This minimizes undesirable secondary interactions—particularly tailing and adsorption with basic or chelating analytes—and promotes stable retention times. This reproducible silica matrix forms the basis for the various Inertsil modifications and ensures reliable selectivities across the series. Appropriate Inertsil pre-column cartridges should be used to protect the analytical packing bed from particles and the sample matrix and to extend column lifespan.
