The Inertsil Ph-3 HPLC column 100x3.0mm, 2µm, is a phenyl phase for reverse-phase chromatography. The phenyl groups are directly bonded to the silica and enable strong π-π interactions as well as a different selectivity than C18 or C8 phases. As a result, Inertsil Ph-3 is particularly suitable for aromatic, polar, acidic, and basic compounds for which conventional alkyl phases do not provide sufficient separation. Typical applications include active pharmaceutical ingredients, structural isomers, aromatic compounds, organic acids, and method development with alternative selectivity.
The Inertsil series is based on a high-purity, spherical silica matrix whose pore structure, particle size distribution, and surface are carefully controlled during production. Low metal contamination and careful surface treatment reduce the activity of free silanol groups. This minimizes undesirable secondary interactions—particularly tailing and adsorption with basic or chelating analytes—and promotes stable retention times. This reproducible silica matrix forms the basis for the various Inertsil modifications and ensures reliable selectivities across the series. Appropriate Inertsil pre-column cartridges should be used to protect the analytical packing bed from particles and the sample matrix and to extend column lifespan.
