Product Description

The Inertsil HILIC HPLC column 50x0.2mm, 5µm, is based on a diol or dihydroxypropyl modification and is used in hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HILIC). Inertsil HILIC is suitable for highly polar compounds that are only weakly retained-or not retained at all-in reverse-phase chromatography. The HILIC mechanism utilizes a water-rich layer on the polar stationary phase and enables retention via hydrophilic interactions. Typical applications include polar metabolites, sugars, nucleotides, organic acids, water-soluble active ingredients, and LC/MS methods with a high organic content.

The Inertsil series is based on a high-purity, spherical silica matrix whose pore structure, particle size distribution, and surface are carefully controlled during production. Low metal contamination and careful surface treatment reduce the activity of free silanol groups. This minimizes undesirable secondary interactions—particularly tailing and adsorption with basic or chelating analytes—and promotes stable retention times. This reproducible silica matrix forms the basis for the various Inertsil modifications and ensures reliable selectivities across the series. Appropriate Inertsil pre-column cartridges should be used to protect the analytical packing bed from particles and the sample matrix and to extend column lifespan.
