The Inertsil ODS-4V HPLC column 250x3.0mm, 5µm, is the validated version of the Inertsil ODS-4. The octadecyl phase (also known as ODS, RP-18, C18) offers the chromatographic properties of the ODS-4 but is supplied with expanded quality and performance verification for GLP/GMP-compliant working environments. Inertsil ODS-4V is used in reverse-phase chromatography and is particularly suitable for validated methods, method transfers, and regulated QC laboratories. Typical applications include pharmaceutical release testing, stability studies, method validation, and routine testing with high requirements for documentation and reproducibility.
The Inertsil series is based on a high-purity, spherical silica matrix whose pore structure, particle size distribution, and surface are carefully controlled during production. Low metal contamination and careful surface treatment reduce the activity of free silanol groups. This minimizes undesirable secondary interactions—particularly tailing and adsorption with basic or chelating analytes—and promotes stable retention times. This reproducible silica matrix forms the basis for the various Inertsil modifications and ensures reliable selectivities across the series. Appropriate Inertsil pre-column cartridges should be used to protect the analytical packing bed from particles and the sample matrix and to extend column lifespan.
Inertsil is a registered trademark of the manufacturer GL Sciences Inc., Tokyo, Japan.
