Discovery® is the brand name for various reversed-phase HPLC columns from the manufacturer Supelco™ (Sigma Aldrich™). The base material is a spherical, high-purity silica gel, which is available in various complementary modifications. Unique combinations of polar and hydrophobic retention mechanisms enable differentiated separations from octadecyl phases.
The Discovery® Zr series includes HPLC columns with zirconia-based stationary phases. The materials are not subject to shrinkage or swelling with changes in solvent, temperature, ionic strength, etc. and exhibit extremely high temperature and pH stability. The spherical metal oxide particles are available in four different reversed-phase modifications. Due to the additional occurrence of Lewis acid - Lewis base interactions as a retention mechanism, unique selectivities are achieved.
The Discovery® Bio series contains several wide-pore phases for the analysis of peptides and proteins.
